Is Rathmines in a beautiful area?

Rathmines is the ‘underdog’ to Dublin’s popular city center.

Rathmines, one of Dublin’s most coveted neighborhoods, could be considered a shame. However, for the people who know it and love it, it’s still a very popular area. This is a great place to go if you want to explore Dublin from a different perspective.

Is Rathmines in a beautiful area?

Rathmines is where you’ll find the younger crowd in Dublin – such as me and my friends. Don’t miss this hidden gem if you plan a trip to Dublin. Here’s my guide for all the top things to do in this fashionable neighborhood.

An overview of Rathmines

Rathmines is located 3km south of Dublin city center. If the weather is good, you can walk the half-hour to reach Rathmines. Rathmines has it all, from shopping and eating to cultural entertainment and clubbing. Rathmines’ nightlife is amazing.

This area is a haven for Dublin’s creatives and students, giving it a young, energetic feel. You’ll love this area if you don’t want to be surrounded by tourists. You can easily get around Rathmines or the rest of Dublin with trams and public busses. Download the bus app to keep track of schedules, routes and fares.

Although taxis can be more costly than other public transport options, they are often quicker and more convenient. Because they are so knowledgeable about the area, it’s a great idea to hire a taxi driver. Let’s now move on to the top things to do at Rathmines.

Blackbird

Blackbird is my favorite Dublin pub. Blackbird is a favorite spot for me and my friends. We always go there when we go to Rathmines. It is dark, mysterious and mysterious inside. There are no red candles or antique lights to illuminate the place. It’s laid-back, casual and very chilled.

The bar has a pool table and board games, and you can also find the perfect Friday night playlist. Plus, drinks and food are very affordable. You can enjoy a pizza and pint for just 12 euros – it’s the perfect combination! This spot is very popular with locals, particularly students.

To ensure a good seat, and to grab a Jenga set before it gets too crowded, get there early! Blackbird is open from 16:00 to midnight every day, and up until 01:00 on weekends.

Copan

Copan is a more exclusive place than Blackbird. It’s better for nights where you want to dress up and have cocktails. This modern, elegant bar is located in the heart Rathmines.

This is a good choice if you are looking for a place to have dinner and to be able to chat with your guests. Copan is known for its unique design features. It draws inspiration from Mayan hieroglyphics, art, and other historical Mayan icons. The restaurant is open daily from 16:00 to midnight during the week and till the early hours of the morning over the weekends.

Copan’s best days are Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. A DJ will come in and get everyone moving with an exotic drink in hand. It is advisable to reserve a place at a table especially in peak summer.

Stella Theater

The Stella Theater is Rathmine’s most valuable institution. This cinema was first opened in 1923 and is an iconic cultural landmark in Dublin. The cinema was renovated and restored in recent years to bring back the 1920’s glamour. The Stella was Ireland’s biggest cinema, with a large ballroom on its first floor.

This building’s architecture and design is an artifact of theater. However, the cinema is still being used in its entirety. Their website lists the rolling films and you can order tickets online. Stella Cocktail Club upstairs makes a great visit to the theater. This club takes over the role of the original ballroom.

The bar has a lovely view of Rathmines below and a romantic little terrace where you can enjoy cocktails. The theater as well as the cocktail bar are both open on all days.

Camile Thai

The best place in Dublin to find Thai food is Camile Thai. Camile Thai delivers the best Thai food to Rathmines with high-quality ingredients, and talented wok chefs.

Their mission is bringing people together in authentic Thai style. To do this, they make sure that everyone has a choice of dishes – vegan, dairy-free, gluten free and gluten-free – to ensure everyone is satisfied and happy. The restaurant only uses grass-fed beef and pork. They also use seasonal vegetables from local sources.

Camile branches are located all over Dublin. My personal favourite is the one in Rathmines. Hours of operation are from 11:00 to 23:00.

ICS Charity Shop

Rathmines’s best-kept secret is the ICS vintage charity shop. It’s surprising that so few people are aware of this store. They have so many beautiful, pre-loved treasures! There are many vintage items for sale, including clothes, household goods and even art.

Not only will you be able find incredible souvenirs from your Dublin trip at bargain prices but you will also be supporting an excellent cause. The ICS is a group that runs shops in Ireland to raise funds for various charities supporting refugees and the homeless.

They have several clothing donation banks throughout Dublin where you can give any clothes you don’t want back home. The Rathmines store is open every day except Sundays from 10:00-17:00.

Mother Reilly’s bar

Mother Reilly’s bar, which is part of the Uppercross House Hotel boutique, makes it onto the list of top places to eat in Rathmines. This is a great place to visit if you want something new at night.

There are always events going on at the bar – live music performances, pub quizzes or stand-up comedy; live streaming of sport games and open mic nights; there’s never a dull moment! While you’re enjoying the entertainment, the bar has a great selection of local beers. The restaurant serves light meals that are perfect for snacking.

Dublin Sessions will keep you informed of all upcoming Mother Reilly events. So make sure to check their website regularly so you don’t miss any!

Dundrum

Dundrum is Dublin’s most popular shopping area. Dundrum can be considered a suburb but is close enough to Rathmines to be considered part of the neighborhood.

This shopping center has more than 100 shops and many cafes. There are also 12 cinema screens, bars, nightclubs, and a theater. Dundrum can keep you entertained indoors, even if you don’t have the opportunity to go out in the rainy weather.

For the past three consecutive years, the center has been awarded the Best Family Friendly Shopping Center in Ireland. This means that families with children can take advantage of all the kid-friendly entertainment Dundrum provides. The shops are open daily from 10:00 to 19.00, and the food court until 21:00.

Two Fifty Square

Two Fifty Square is an industrial warehouse-style coffeeshop that offers a refreshing change of pace from the many Irish pubs you can visit in Dublin. The interior is super Insta-worthy with its stripped back elements of bleaches wood, metal and Scandinavian-inspired color scheme.

The best thing about this place is the fact that they roast their own coffee beans. Two Fifty Square is located off Rathmines’ main street. It is quiet and away from the hustle, making it the ideal spot for those digital nomads searching for their office.

There is also a patio with seating for dogs, which is great news for dog owners! The cafe is open daily from 08:00 to 18:00.
